Volunteer Opportunities

You can connect with your Temple community in many ways. Committees, big projects, little projects, easy tasks, complicated issues – you name it, we have opportunities. If you have ideas or are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact Alysa Rosen, Program Director, 206-525-0915 x 210.

Bake Honeycake for Rosh Hashanah – In continuing with our tradition of handing out tasty honeycake at the end of Rosh Hashanah day services, we are asking for a few volunteers to bake 4 honeycakes. If you are interested, please contact Alysa Rosen or call the Temple office by September 1, 2010.

Be a Shammus during the High Holy Days - Be a part of our wonderful welcoming team. Call the front office to learn more (206) 525-0915.

Religious School Preparation – The first day of Religious School is September 26, 2010 and we need your help to get everything ready! If you are available to spend a couple hours helping our school, please contact Amber or call the Temple office.

Office Support – Can you join us in our office for a few hours a week? We need help Thursdays from 2-3 PM and Friday mornings or afternoons. We will train and support you on how to answer the phones, file, copy, take messages and other general office tasks.

Mailings - Once a month we mail our Bulletin and we are always looking for volunteers for this and other occasional mailings.

Join our Membership Committee – This committee meets to discuss ways to help integrate our newest members into our vibrant Temple life. Join our new chair, Rachel Scherr, to plan engaging new member events, talk about ways to retain members and share their experiences. We want to include new and diverse faces on this important committee.

Adult Education - We welcome Jamie Lieberman as the new Chair of Adult Education at Beth Am. Working closely with our Program Director and Rabbis, Jamie will oversee adult learning opportunities at Beth Am this year. Our major programs include the Scholar-in-Residence weekend, Cooking Classes and Sunday Morning Forums. Email Jamie Lieberman if you wish to get involved.

Rides for homebound members – We have a number of members who are unable to get to Temple for programs or Shabbat services who could really use a ride. We are also interested in people who might be able to provide rides for members to and from doctor’s appointments.

Join Project Hineyni – Our wonderful caring community program is back! Laura Stusser-McNeil has stepped up as chair of this Program and she needs all of you! If you are interested in learning more about how you can help meet the needs of our congregants, please contact
Alysa Rosen.
