Our commitment to Tikkun Olam, working toward making the world whole, is reflected at Temple Beth Am in the opportunities available to all members to participate in activities guided by the values of tzedek (justice), chesed and g’milut Chasidim (charity and acts of love and kindness) and shalom (peace).
From the Social Action Committee to the educational forums to the Religious School classroom, there are many ways in which individuals and families at Beth Am learn about how these values are expressed in Judaism and can find ways of being involved at a level that is right for them.
Just Congregations offers members a chance to connect with neighbors and share concerns to help shape the social justice work we do at Temple Beth Am.
The Green Team was formed to address issues of global warming and the environment. The Green Team is committed to operating our Temple in an environmentally responsible matter, presenting educational programs to promote ecological awareness, and motivating members to "green" their homes and workplaces through the use of environmentally-friendly products and practices.
The Homeless to Renter Program (H2R) provides help to homeless or nearly homeless families with children so that they can become renters and live in stable housing. Our tradition’s call to help the poor and the stranger among us is reflected in many events and activities, both internally and in cooperation with the broader community.
