This service, led by Reyna and Beth Am clergy, is designed to be family-friendly, interactive, and a great way to learn the parts of a Shabbat service and how you do Shabbat at home.

Virtual Retreat: Cooking, Crafting, and Chatting

Opportunities for students to come together to chat, craft, cook and more! We have grouped activities based on age/grade level. Each retreat is approximately 2 hours and will take place during "normal" Gan times, except our "D&D One Shot Campaign" which will be from 2pm-4pm. While our primary goal is to have fun, each of these retreats will be an opportunity for Jewish Experiential Learning!

 

PK- 3rd Grade (Ages 5-9) @ 9:30 am
Making Ethiopian Honey Bread "Dabo" and Crafting. Parent/adult kitchen assistants recommended to help when it is time to bake the bread.

 

4th Grade and up (Ages 9+) @ 11:30 am

New York Style Bagel Making, Shmooze and Trivia. Parent/adult kitchen assistants welcome but not required. 

 

4th Grade and up (Ages 9+) @ 2:00 pm

D&D One-Shot Campaign.

So much happening at the same time! So many ways for your family to get involved and have fun connecting with others. Take your pick for which you want to join:

 

Story Time - Elders and grandparents in our community will read some of their favorite stories to our little ones. Come, relax, and enjoy a good tale.

 

Baking for Everyone - Beth Am bakers host this three-part series, as learn to make all sorts of tasty treats. Please RSVP to Reyna so we can send you an ingredient list.

 

Painting Together - Jen Koch will lead this two-part series for all artists (or aspiring artists). Kids younger than 7 may have a hard time following along. Each class will build on each other to create a final finished piece, so it is necessary to attend both classes in the series. Please RSVP to Reyna so we can send you a supply list.

6th-7th Grade Havdalah

We say good-bye to Shabbat together with friends, music, and time to hang out with each other. This is a great chance to see your peers or meet families with students of a similar age. We will have breakout rooms for the tweens and parents to spend time in their own spaces.

Passover is coming up so let's get ready! Today is all about getting set up for the holiday that will soon be upon us.

 

Each group of grades will be creating age-appropriate Passover kits and Matzah brittle (yum!).

Our PreK and 1st graders will play all sorts of games, such as I-Spy, 20 Questions, and scavenger hunts all around you.

 

Our 2nd to 5th graders will join for Among Us and Minecraft.

 

Facilitated by our Teen Leaders, our 6th to 12th graders will decide their own fate and have all the time they want together.

As the academic year starts to end, we are here to help students who are transitioning from school or part of life to another. We are hosting a series to panels to talk about what to expect, any concerns, and how we can be there for each other.

 

Tween Leaders will talk about entering middle school and becoming B'nai Mitzvah.

 

Teen Leaders will talk about entering high school.

 

Nicole Pinkus and Tori Gottlieb will host a panel of college students, recent alumni, and people who work at UW to talk about the transition from high school to college.
