Join us for this week’s Friday Forum presented by George Cox.
Over the past 20 years Jewish and non-Jewish scholarship has explored more fully the connection the young hare Alexander Hamilton had with the Jewish community of Saint Croix and Nevis islands in the West Indies. There has been credible claims that Hamilton was born Jewish. Temple member George Cox, a lay historian of Hamilton and founder of an educational nonprofit named for him, will explore this scholarship. He will also delve into the social, cultural, economic, and demographic aspects of these islands. In this talk you will get a more complete understanding of how the young Hamilton moved between the Christian and Jewish communities, and more importantly how it impacted his life as an important Founding Father of the United States.
