During Temple Beth Am’s 5786 year of Creating Home Together, we are offering opportunities for Adult Learning. Together, we will engage through the heart – looking at our personal experiences of creating and enriching our Jewish home; mind – studying texts around the concept of home and our role within the community; and soul – connecting more deeply with our Reform Jewish home and movement.
Our Adult Learning community is focused on seeking meaning, creating connection, and relationship building for all. We aim to offer a range of opportunities to gather, share, discuss, debate, and learn from each other.
In parallel with SEED, our Early Childhood School, and The Gan, our Youth Learning Program, our intended outcomes are:
Creating meaningful connections to the Jewish people, our congregation, and each other
Empowering each of us to articulate our relationship to Judaism through the soul, heart, and mind
Building the confidence and competence to live Jewishly
Hebrew Intensive Course
In anticipation of our engagement with Svara, we are offering a Hebrew Intensive to prepare for our opening weekend of learning.
Rabbi Debbie will be offering a class to learn to decode all the letters and vowels in three weeks.
Class will be held on Zoom at 7 pm – 8:30 pm on Sunday, November 16, 23, and 30.
This will require a commitment to study independently (or with others) each day for 15 minutes in addition to the Sunday classes.
This class for adults is an opportunity for in-depth learning of the prayers in the Friday evening and Saturday morning service at Temple Beth Am. We will move slowly through each prayer, learning the vocabulary as we go as well as the way to sing them. Basic ability to decode Hebrew letters and vowels is a must.
Please join our ongoing Hebrew through Text class as we read through the Exodus story in Hebrew. This class requires a solid knowledge of Hebrew letters and vowels, with some basic Hebrew vocabulary.
