Join Temple Beth Am’s Israel Engagement Team on Tuesday evening, April 21 at 6:30pm (in person) for a meaningful communal gathering as we mark the transition from Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Day of Remembrance) to Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day).
We will begin with a short film screening of An Article of Hope, a powerful documentary that tells the story of Ilan Ramon, Israel’s first astronaut. The film follows Ramon’s journey aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia and the profound significance of the miniature Torah scroll he carried with him—an artifact that survived the Holocaust. His act becomes a moving symbol of continuity, memory, and hope, stretching from unimaginable loss to extraordinary possibility.
Following the screening, we will be joined virtually by filmmaker Dan Cohen, the film’s director and producer, for a conversation and Q&A.
We will then transition into a Yom HaAtzmaut celebration with Israeli treats and desserts, marking the shift from remembrance to resilience, from mourning to renewed life.
Please note: this is an evening program with light bites and dessert only—please plan to eat dinner beforehand.
We hope you will join us for this layered and meaningful evening of memory, conversation, and community.
