Guided First Thursday Art Walk in Pioneer Square
Please join me for a tour of galleries and enjoy the arts scene! Once a month, Seattleites flock to the streets in Pioneer Square for a chance to stroll, sip on booze, and attend as many art openings as possible at First Thursday. It’s the city’s central and oldest art walk – in fact, it was the very first Art Walk in the United States – and takes place in a historic neighborhood known for its abundance of galleries. Wine and hobnobbing steal the scene for some, but at its core, it’s an impressive communal unveiling of new artwork. During First Thursday Art Walks in Pioneer Square, parking is free from 5 PM to 10 PM at the Frye and Butler Garages.

Personal Archive Photography Session with Ken Winnick
Do you have boxes of old letters, photographs, artwork, and/or small physical objects from your family, collecting dust or hidden away in boxes in your garage or closet? Do you sometimes wonder what to do with these treasures, rather than just throwing them away or leaving them for your kids to deal with? Would you also like to gather with some loved ones to learn more about these archives?
Ken Winnick, a TBA photographer and archivist, is offering two Personal Archive Photography Session ($600 value per session) to help support TBA. Ken is currently leading the very popular Archives Hearth Group at TBA, whose works and archive art will contribute to this year’s Shabbat Zachor programming at the Temple (March 8th); sharing with the congregation our stories and the truths that have discovered.
The offer includes a half-day session in organizing, photographing, and making meaning from your personal archives. Whether your archive is large or small, there is always meaning to be uncovered… both family histories and the history of the times during which the materials were created. You will be provided with an online, very high-quality photographic representation for some of your most important objects. Advice will be given about how to continue with your archives, if desired, and how to share and tell your family’s story.
Date and time are flexible. You are welcome to invite up to 3 of your loved ones for this personalized session. Please work with Ken on finding a date and time that works. If you are interested in hosting a larger group to allow for other Beth Am community members to join and bring their personal archives, please contact TBA and we will add an additional spot.
